The dance community is here for you.

We hope you took the time to rest and recharge over the holiday break and are ready to take on this new semester full of possibilities.

There can be a lot of pressure surrounding entering a new year (and new semester), making resolutions, setting goals, and seeing January 1st as a chance to reset or restart.

Although these mindsets are fantastic and a great way to enter a new year, it is important to remember that you can reset, set goals, and make resolutions at any time that is convenient to you. Despite the universal implication of starting "anew" for the new year, it is perfectly okay to be the old you, the same you, or the new you when the ball drops.

As we enter the winter term, let us remind ourselves that everyone is on their own journey. We all learn, grow, and attain our goals at our own pace. When the time is right for you, set those goals, big or small. It will not always be easy, but instead of feeling deflated if you are not where you want to be, remind yourself how far you have come, and how hard you worked to get to where you are today.

This semester is going to be filled with events, shows, and ways to get involved with our dance community here at York, so stay up-to-date with our social media pages and ask your year reps about everything coming up!

Pace yourself,

You got this, the dance community is here for you.
